The POCET Sensor
Accurate
Our sensing technology relies on an electrochemical principle of measuring the response of living bacteria to antibiotics. In response, it quantifies antibiotic resistance in patient samples to a variety of antibiotic agents directly. The method is expected to provide an accurate measure of antibiotic resistance in more than 80% of patient samples, providing fast feedback on the most effective antibiotic treatment.
Portable
Electrochemical methods establish a direct bridge between physiological chemistry and electrical signals. The POCET sensor is a handheld electrochemical device that is safe, robust, and requires minimal training. It is easily applied in various clinical settings, from big city family clinics to remote operation in field stations and crisis zones.
Fast
Conventional antibiotic resistance testing requires incubation and growth of samples over many hours or days. The POCET sensor can provide and accurate result in as little as five minutes. It enables clinics to provide the best possible treatment for bacterial infections in the patient's first visit, without compromising turn over.
